INCLIVA and Istituto Auxologico Italiano, with the support of the partners that are developing the tools for extraction of 3D model data (Instituto de Biomecánica de Valencia, ATOS and PHILIPS), are leading a pilot demonstrator for the health sector, and specifically in obesity.

Obesity is closely related to metabolic risk factors and risk of morbidity and mortality. The amount of fat in the abdominal cavity, liver, renal sinus and muscles is strongly associated with the presence and / or risk to develop metabolic abnormalities.

Assessment of fat is paramount to take action, but it requires the use of expensive or imprecise methods and techniques. This pilot will use the tools developed to obtain reliable information on fat distribution from external 3D scan measurements which can reduce time to take decisions and costs.
